Goldfinch Hotel, Bangalore
Sunday morning 2/2/14
It's been a lovely break, and now I'm getting ready to check out and head back to Mathru after lunch with Muktha and Srini.
Oh yes … no, they don't know how to make a Manhattan here. And I never did get a glass of chilled chardonnay. But the beers were perfectly cold and appropriate for all the fantastic meals I had here, so I'm not complaining.
And the showers and bubble baths were bliss.
Yesterday's highlight was dinner with Aloma and David Lobo, friends of Larry Vrieling's. Larry became friends with them when he was in the Peace Corps and serving in Bangalore decades ago. I hope we'll be able to get together again before I leave; we had a delightful visit and I'm glad Larry put us in touch.
We ate at the Sana-Di-ge seafood restaurant here, and yes the waiter remembered me, grin. This time David and Aloma chose our dinner menu and I got to taste some new dishes, my favorite a flaky white fish filet covered in spices and grilled to perfection.
I ate too much again, and I'm not eating this morning so I'll be able to eat lunch.
I told David and Aloma about the struggle Andy and I are having with Expedia and Philippine Airlines, and it turns out Aloma knows someone at Philippine Airlines. She said she'd contact them. I sure appreciate that and look forward to hearing how it turns out;
Andy and I are getting the word out to media and friends in the hopes that they'll help put sme public opinion pressure on Expedia and Philippine Airlines to b reasonable.
It's bad enough that the airlines and travel companies tend to treat their customers so shabbily whenever travel plans need to be changed, but refusing to let a deafblind woman pay a change fee to get her flight changed so she won't be stuck in a foreign airport with no companion to help her get around of find another flight is inhumane.
Well, we'll see what happens. In her meantime I need to go check out and meet Muktha and Srini for lunch.
