"I love having written. I hate writing." --Dorothy Parker
It was a Dorothy Parker day, only it was all about grouting instead of writing. I do indeed love having grouted, and seeing nine newly-finished and -grouted mosaics at the end of my two classes today made us all smile.
I used Andy's formula of equal parts grout to sand, and it seemed to work out all right. We'll know for sure in a couple days after the grout sets and cures. We grouted five of the pieces in the dark brick red and four in the golden yellow color. Both colors are excellent background colors for the pieces.
I can tell we're going to need a lot more grout before the month is out, and I need to ask Andy where he got the sand. I've completely forgotten.
Indeed, I have a whole list of things we need, and just sent off an email to Srini and Muktha. I'm still waiting for Harish to bring me adhesive and glass globs, and we're running out of some of the tile colors too. I need plywood cut for the large piece Muktha wants me to do,
And I need a good task lamp so that I can do my mosaic work without straining. Come to think of it, that's another thing missing around here, besides canes and O&M training … good low-vision lighting equipment. I told Muktha and Srini that I need to choose the lamp myself, to make sure I get the right kind, ,and I want to pay for stand then give it to the school when I leave.
I'm not leaving Bangalore until February 12, but realistically I won't get much work done after Linda gets here on February 2. Just four more weeks. I can get a lot of mosaic work done in four weels, but I better stay well.
