Hi Everyone: the book is finally here!!
The Usher Syndrome Coalition’s book, “Walk in My Shoes,” edited by Charlotte J. DeWitt, is finally out after two years of hard work. It’s an extraordinary collection of more than two dozen stories by writers, including me, who have Usher syndrome. Our stories present compelling views of life with both hearing and vision loss.
“Walk In My Shoes,” edited by Charlotte J. DeWitt, is available on Amazon today in time for holiday gift-giving, and costs less than $20.
https://www.amazon.com/Walk-Shoes-Inspiring-perspective-emotional/dp/194575611X/ref=sr_1_1?s=books&ie=UTF8&qid=1481570043&sr=1-1&keywords=walk+in+my+shoes+dewitt
Proceeds will go to the Usher Syndrome Coalition (bit.ly/ushwalkinmyshoes and https://www.usher-syndrome.org) for scholarships to Usher syndrome conferences and to support research for cures for the various forms of Usher syndrome, which is a leading cause of deaf-blindness in the world.
Please feel free to contact me if you have any questions about our book. (You can also check us out on Facebook

Trace and I have been home for about twenty-fours now, and he's all settled in. We're a happy reunited team, he's had a nice reunion with Patches and Bella, and he's his usual mellow playful carrot-mongering self.
I, on the other hand, am jet-lagged as hell, but that will pass.
Andy and I had a very nice reunion when I got in to San Francisco. I think he might have missed me a little: he gave me three big bear hugs in a row.
It was so good to feel the plane wheels touch the runway, and to know that I was really and truly back in California. Even through all the jet and airport smells, I could smell San Francisco as soon as the plane door opened. I recognized the distinctive smell of Bangalore when Mayu and I returned from Sri Lanka, too. And Hong Kong, when I returned from Manila.
The first thing I did when I got home was get out of the clothes I'd been traveling in and climb into my blue jeans. The next thing was to go play with Trace out in the back yard.
That's a great way to finish off an adventure, in your fave jeans having a good romp with your fave dog.
Home is good.
